In order for our bodies to work, there are a range of different biological molecules that interact with each other to provide structure and function. Pathology can involve issues with one or more of these molecule types which can greatly change our normal function. Additionally, various drugs and conditions can alter these molecules, thus changing how they function. This section explores different biomolecules in our bodies, along with their synthesis, breakdown, and functions.
The contents within this section closely follow the AAMC section: Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems Section: Content Category 5D.
