Societies and other individuals affect our behavior which was discussed in the Social Influence on Behavior Section. However, we as individuals have just as strong of an impact on how we behave. The core of our actions stem from our genetics and biological programming to improve our genetic fitness and reproduce our gene lines. Stepping away from crude biology, we each have varying personalities. We will discuss some of the personality theories including psychoanalytic, humanistic, biological, behaviorist, and trait theory. Lastly, this section will end with a discussion about motivation and attitudes.
