Chemical reactions are essential in the physiological processes of our bodies. Normal functions such as muscle building, fat storage, bone formation, and countless other important processes are catalyzed by enzymes to allow these reactions to occur. This section discusses the role of enzymes and further explores the thermodynamic and kinetic properties of these reactions. Furthermore, the storage and usage of ATP and energy within our bodies is discussed in the bioenergetics unit.
The contents within this section closely follow the AAMC section: Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems Section: Content Category 5E.
